Fireside chats
We foster competitive, yet high caliber debate in prevailing social issues, and also an open-minded atmosphere for such debates to take place in. These Fireside chats take the format of one or two academics with a maximum of fifteen students, to discuss and debate their most recent research topic. In this way the students gain exposure to cutting edge research and broaden their academic thought.
Conferences
We are in the process of planning an academic conference based around the subject of international development, to take place in March 2018. This is following the overwhelming success of our Political Risk Symposium of March 2017. This event was in collaboration with LSE’s Political Risk and Investment Society (PRIS), and the Funk Foundation’s Risks from a European Perspective: A Comprehensive Approach.
Socials
We aim to create a fun social environment for our members to get to know each other. This is done through the family system and society events. The latter are either all free or at a very low cost to enable access to all.
ABOUT
The Philosophy, Politics and Economics Society was created with the aim of exploring academic concepts, guided by the interconnected nature of the three disciplines, whilst maintaining an interactive, social core. The Society looks to seek out comparative discussion with an emphasis on, but by no means limited to, the three disciplines, and understand not only each in their individual depth but also their interdisciplinary nature. Additionally, we create an open and unified atmosphere, in which any curious individual, whether they be in the field of art, science, humanity, or social science, can join to explore the world in which we live.
